The silver fern with all its associations of ‘All Blacks’, kiwi sport and tourism, made it a well recognised icon internationally. When Yealands Wine Estates secured a trade mark for ‘silver fern’ we were asked to play to those strengths to give this label the same kind of weight as those well recognised brands, but allow for the celebratory and fun aspect of wine drinking to still come through.
